Chattero is a third-party iOS Twitch chat client developed by Marian Leontiev ("we", "the developer"). This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and how you control it.
1. The short version
- We run no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no server of our own that stores your data.
- Your Twitch OAuth token is stored only in the iOS Keychain on your device and is sent only to Twitch.
- The app talks directly to Twitch and to a few community services to load emotes, badges, chat history, link previews and profile details. We do not receive copies of that traffic.
- Delete the app, or use Settings → Accounts → Delete Account, to remove everything the app stores about you.
2. Data stored on your device
- Twitch OAuth token — iOS Keychain. Never leaves the device except in requests to Twitch.
- Account details — your Twitch login, display name, user id and chat colour, cached in app settings.
- Settings and channel list — stored in app settings (UserDefaults).
- Chat logs — only if you turn on Settings → Logging → Enable chat logging (off by default). Received messages are written to files inside the app's sandbox on your device.
- Crash and performance reports — collected on the device by Apple's MetricKit and kept in the app's sandbox. They are never sent anywhere automatically. You can export them yourself from Settings → About → Prepare Diagnostics and choose where to share them.
We do not collect chat message contents, whispers, contacts, photos, location, health, financial or advertising identifiers, and we do not store any of the above outside your device.
3. Services the app connects to
All connections are made directly from your device over HTTPS/WSS. Each service is operated by a third party and governed by its own privacy policy.
| Service | What is sent | Why |
|---|---|---|
Twitch (id.twitch.tv, api.twitch.tv, irc-ws.chat.twitch.tv, eventsub.wss.twitch.tv, pubsub-edge.twitch.tv, static-cdn.jtvnw.net) | Your OAuth token, the channels you open, the messages you send, moderation actions you perform | Signing in and using Twitch chat |
| chattero-oauth.vercel.app (operated by the developer) | A single redirect request after Twitch sign-in. The token travels in the URL fragment, which browsers do not send to the server | Twitch requires an HTTPS redirect address; this static page hands the result back to the app. Vercel keeps standard access logs (IP address, user agent) |
BetterTTV, FrankerFaceZ, 7TV (api.betterttv.net, sockets.betterttv.net, api.frankerfacez.com, 7tv.io, events.7tv.io) | The id and name of channels you open | Third-party emotes and live emote updates |
| api.chatterino.com | Nothing personal; a public badge list is downloaded | Chatterino community badges |
| recent-messages.robotty.de | The name of the channel you open | Recent chat history when you join a channel |
| api.ivr.fi | Your Twitch login and the channel name, when you open a user card | Follow age and subscription age shown in the card |
| api.pronouns.alejo.io | Twitch logins of users whose messages are on screen | Pronouns shown next to usernames |
| braize.pajlada.com | Each URL that appears in chat | Link previews and thumbnails |
| Image uploader you configure (Settings → External tools) | The image you choose to upload and any headers you enter | Sharing images in chat. Off by default; the destination is chosen by you |
We do not sell, rent or share data with data brokers, do not build advertising profiles and do not perform cross-app tracking, so the App Tracking Transparency prompt is not shown.
4. Your controls
- Delete Account (Settings → Accounts) revokes the OAuth token at Twitch and erases the token and cached account details from the device. Your Twitch account itself is not affected.
- Remove account (swipe a row in Settings → Accounts) removes the stored credentials for that user.
- Streamer mode (Settings → Streamer mode) hides viewer counts and other live details while you stream.
- Delete the app to remove all locally stored data, including the Keychain token, settings and crash reports.
- Bug reports are ordinary emails you compose and send yourself; you see the full content before sending.
5. Children
Chattero is not directed to children under 13. Twitch's Terms of Service require users to be 13 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
6. Your rights
Because the app stores your data only on your device, deleting the app or the account inside it removes it. If you believe we hold any data about you elsewhere, or have questions about this policy, email leontievmarian@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you inside the app before the change takes effect.
